The traditional wine-growing village of Sooß, located near Vienna, is home to the Schwertführer wine tavern. The Schwertführer
family founded their winery in Sooß in 1957 and has since operated it as a family-run business. Their aim has always been
to combine the classic offerings of a traditional Austrian wine tavern with contemporary elements, such as gluten-free and
lactose-free dishes, while maintaining a strong focus on regional and seasonal produce.
The quality of this approach has been widely recognised. Falstaff named the Schwertführer wine tavern the best in Sooß, a notable achievement given the wide range of establishments in the village. At the Thermenregion wine competition in 2022, two Schwertführer wines were also awarded first place in their respective categories.
