Let’s Walz: METAGRO apprentice Franz Lintner gains international experience in Spain

Blog

Our apprentice Franz Lintner has been training as a metal engineering technician since 2022 and is now taking the opportunity to gain four weeks of international experience in Córdoba, Spain. The aim is to give young talents valuable insights into other cultures, improve their language skills and strengthen their personal development.

For several years now, the Lower Austrian social partner initiative “Let’s Walz” has offered apprentices in their second year of training (from the age of 16) the opportunity to complete a four-week internship abroad within Europe. Only around three percent of all apprentices in Austria take advantage of such an opportunity. Our apprentice Franz Lintner is one of them – something we are very proud of.
The programme is organised and managed by the Education Department of the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber (WKNÖ) in cooperation with the Association for International Skilled Worker Exchange (IFA). It is mainly funded through the EU programme Erasmus+, with additional support from the Lower Austrian Economic Chamber and the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour.
Our Executive Board Member Gerlinde Tröstl-Katinger emphasises:
“I think it’s fantastic when young people are curious, set themselves goals and want to gain experience abroad. It not only broadens their professional horizons but is also incredibly valuable for personal development and strengthens self-confidence. I fully support this initiative.”

More than just an internship
With “Let’s Walz”, young people from Lower Austria are given a unique opportunity: they gain international work experience, develop personally, expand their language skills and return home as confident young professionals – a true win-win situation for companies, apprentices and the entire region.
