From a master workshop to a refrigeration specialist –

1972

The coffee machine salesman Ing. Peter H. Reuschel recognized the market niche of offering custom-made stainless steel furniture for the restaurant industry. Because of his private connections to Hainfeld (Lower Austria) he was able to build a 1500 m² production hall and a 100 m² office "in the open countryside". The company’s name METAGRO stands for the German words METAll (metal) and GROßküche (commercial kitchen

1973

Production starts with 14 employees. The technical "know-how" is brought in by the former co-owner of the company Patzner GesmbH in Bad Mergentheim (today company Palux). Production is carried out in the tradition of a master workshop – with individual manufacture and medium lot size

1980

First major contract – construction of a kitchen for 8,000 meals in the Technical Centre of CA (today UniCredit Bank Austria), contract value approx. € 500,00

1982

Start of the production of Gastronorm equipment and beverage refrigeration uni

1984

First foreign fair participation at the IKK in Nürnberg.

1988

The CAD design era begins with the purchase of a CNC-controlled punching machine (Trumatic 240).

1994

Designer Hans-Peter Rainer from Graz creates stainless steel furniture for the autumn fair in Nürnberg.

1997

A new 750 m² office building resulting from an architectural competition is built. The architect Loistl designed a building with a light-flooded entrance, which has become a popular meeting place for employees and customers. The building’s projecting optical supports are a prominent counterpart to the elongated production hall and an eye-catcher for architecture enthusiasts.

1999

A laser cutting machine opens up new possibilities in sheet metal processing. Now, even the most complex contour cut-outs are possible – without the need for expensive tools.

2001

Construction of a new 2400 m² hall – now, a total of 7700 m² production and storage space is available. By now, the company not only produces stainless steel furniture for commercial kitchens, but also sophisticated household kitchens and products for shop fitting and outdoor use.

2003

Automatic welding machines custom made for METAGRO start up the production of hygienic stainless steel furniture at hygiene levels H1, H2 and H3 according to DIN 18865-9.

2004

Takeover of the company Rech Kühlanlagen and foundation of the subsidiary Rech Mechatronik in Vienna. By taking this step, METAGRO additionally positions itself as a specialist in the field of refrigeration technology. The new company is responsible for the planning, installation and maintenance of refrigeration systems.

2008

METAGRO receives the Stainless Steel Design Award 2008 at the Vienna Tec trade fair for the production of a champagne refrigerator.

2012

Purchase of the second laser cutting machine, with suction able to sort laser sheets without leaving scratches. This makes it possible to produce small series with special cuts at attractive prices.

2013

METAGRO celebrates its 40th anniversary as a reliable partner for professional kitchen fitters and shop fitters. During the celebration in the CNC production hall the choir "3klang Chor Rohrbach" performs an unforgettable stainless steel live percussion show.

2015

The hygienic version Swingline (H1M), equipped with a seamless carcass base, becomes a standard METAGRO product. The new front panels with curved handle strips represent a visible advantage in comfort and design.

2016

Modernization of our machine fleet: The CO² laser is replaced by a new solid-state laser. The about twice as high cutting speed and energy conservation of 66% continue to enable shortest possible delivery times and ensure the ecological, future-oriented production.

2017

METAGRO’s quality standards are further increased through the purchase of a special deburring machine. Additionally, a new special welding machine enables semi-automatic corner welding up to half a meter.

2018

45 years METAGRO - We celebrate our anniversary with about 500 visitors with an open house day and present our production.

2019

By adding a 2-level office building and creating 260m2 of additional space, we make room for 12 additional workstations. Besides the visually flawless connection to the existing buildings, the focus of our considerations was to create ergonomic workplaces.
